It all starts with the many trails and hardships of a young boy. At first glance he seems like any other young man trying to make his way through society, but he has an odd hobby. He seeks out strength more than anyone else! Six floors under the Tokyo Dome exists an frightening place. A literal "sacred ground" for those who desire power! A place that exists for the sole reason of deciding the world's strongest man! This is about non other that Grappler Hanma Baki!

Son of Ogre 198

That Fighting Breath, Feel it with your body.

Chapter 198 - Individuality = Original.

A bout of counters, after a good fight Chinese Kempo passes by far.

Audience: That is bad.
Audience: Whoa he's out like a light. He took that to the face.

Akio: From the right?
Akio: I wasn't able to even see it ...

Coach: Hey.
Coach: What are you doing?

Retsu: Practice ...

Coach: What kind of practice is that?
Coach: Didn't you come here to learn boxing?

Retsu: That is right.
Coach: Then why don't you practice boxing!
Coach: Jump Rope, Shadow Boxing, Hit the sandbag and punching ball.
Coach: Do normal boxing practice!!

Retsu: I can't ...
Retsu: Normal Boxing... why was it defeated by me?

Coach: Wha .. huh ...

Retsu: I had the opportunity to prove this is a proper match.

Retsu: If you are saying that you are correct, then I would like to meet this person.
Retsu: A powerful boxer in which my martial art has no effect on.

Coach: ....

Retsu: When I am defeated ...
Retsu: Whether it be jumping rope, shadow boxing, ball hitting, a headstand, even a dance. I will do as you instruct.

Akio: There's just no way to compete with him ...
Akio: Not, "I am right therefore I won", but "I won therefore I am correct"
Akio: Coach.

Akio: We lost, at least for today.

Akio: However, You understand what you're doing brother?
Akio: You've just made all the boxers in the world your enemy.

Katsumi: I reflect upon it, what I've lost.

Katsumi: Rather than what I've lost ...

What I've gained ...
Just what ...
Just what have I gained ...?

Being a one armed person ...

I've gained a one arm original art!!!

Having lost his arm and still reaching new heights!!! What does Baki want with him? Both born of strong fathers, will they start another battle!!?

  8. Sonikku, WFP asks if you would be kind enough to point the translation mistakes from "Baki The search of our strongest hero" for a second HQ public release :)

  9. hi!sonikku!
i am a baki fans from hk!
(please forgive my eng not very well)

i have somethings do not understand on ch.183

in ch.183,yujiro said that the "weak" (baki) corners the "strong" (pickle) to make that pickle need to use "fighting arts"!

then oliva said " it means victory for the weak one(baki)?

but at the last page, there have a sentense:
"From Yujiro's point of view is this Baki's loss?"

Am i get the wrong meaning from what yujiro's said?
would you like to explain the true meaning from
    yujiro's point of view?

thank you for your kind attention!

  11. Yuujiro doesn't care if Baki gave away the fight or if he lost "fair and square" the point is, he lost.

Baki was winning and he could win if he wanted to, but he got greedy and wanted to match powers with pickle, taking a direct hit to the face, he knew the truth, he was winning because he was using "weapons" (techniques) not because he was naturally tough to survive, in exchange, Pickle didn't realized this, but paralyzed in terror, he resorted in using "a modern weapon" (a technique) to defeat Baki, but being powerful enough, it was a shame he still had to use a weapon to win, but at the end, Baki was in the floor and pickle was standing, Yuujiro doesn't care about the development of the fight as long as the winner is the one standing tall.

  12. thank you very much!
but sorry,i have another questions want to ask...

yujiro think the winner is pickle! but when oliva said " it means victory for the weak one(baki)? why yujiro did not retort him?

in ch. 181,there have a sentense:"Right in the middle of a comparison of strength. He(pickle) felt it for sure. The fear of defeat....his tears tell it off."
although i dont understand what is the meaning of "his tears tell it off"

Is this sentense told us that baki also capable to defeat pickle in the "pure power match"?
therefore, pickle used the "weapon" to win because he fear to lose?

thank you for your kind attention!

  13. Thank you very much man!!!

  14. Jake, i think that baki lost to Pickle. Everyone has his own weapons. One can have pure strenght and other can have techinics. Pure strenght is a weapon to i think. What if pickle used a techic, Baki lost.

    Simple as that.

Maybe pickle was sad because he used a techinic, but it dosen't means he lost to Baki at all.

  15. I think it means that they all viewed Pickle as an animal rather than a human. And to Pickle, he had to toss aside his animal like instincts and use a human technique. It would be like having an arm wrestling match and then pulling out a gun and shooting your opponent when you realised you were going to lose. Also, maybe Baki did not expect Pickle to use a human technique, or pushed him to that on purpose. We will never know I guess :) I will miss Pickle.

  16. Anyway, Karate 空手 means Empty Hand.
And so, Katsumi will use that loss
to gain for the perfection of his style.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hello, I do not agree with the previous commentator - not so simple

    ReplyDelete
  18. baki was the winner because he made pickle use a technique..blah blah blah.

the reasoning above is what complicates a simple "win"

because one would win by just beating someone, in this case, pickle beat baki plain and simple. it should have been pickle who won

    summary:
    Q:who won?
    Simple answer: pickle
Complicated answer: baki because he blah blah blah.

so, in the point of view of someone who views victory as just simple beating or klling someone, baki lost

  19. katsumi returning even more powerful...with just one arm n two legs...

  20. I wanted to see a fight between pickle and yujiro

  21. Wtf one armed tech making you tougher. Who can swallow that shit? Having a sense diminished enhancing others, ok, but losing a limb is a major handicap. Also, Retsu, as a true master, should be above ego trips invading gyms like a stupid empowered novice. I love the series but these past issues are weak as fuck.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Your face is weak as fuck, bitch

    ReplyDelete
  23. No I agree. Retsu spent his whole life mastering all of the Chinese arts and then immediate;y upon his entry into the series came hard at Katsumi for using what he viewed as an incomplete style. Now he wants to learn boxing? Why? Cause he lost half a leg? WTF. This is weak as fuck, and Itagaki was probably just stalling the fight everyone has been waiting to see for 20 years

  24. there's a valuable lesson to understand from this chapter "don't look down on what you've lost, but look upon what you've gained"
